Avaya files for bankruptcy
Haven't posted a new blog in a while due to a variety of reasons, but wanted to speak on this particular trend. With Avaya filing bankruptcy, pretty much the largest in-house VoIP system company out there this will most likely signal a new trend I'm seeing in the tech landscape. The time of in-house server based phone systems is going bye bye and cloud based hosted platforms are the new hotness. This is a pattern I've been seeing for a while and with the massive infrastructure set aside solely for these types of services, its no wonder most businesses paying attention have moved their VoIP systems to the cloud. This is very evident with Avaya's net loss of $750 million last year in revenue.
Well luckily, hosted VoIP platforms are something that’s been being implemented and scaled by numerous carriers for years and years now. These options can support smaller 1-25 person businesses to massive companies with thousands of employees. I’ve always liked these because there’s very little that internal IT departments have to do to keep up quality of service. Most of these solutions can be configured through an app on your phone in many cases. Of course there’s more technical platforms out there that support enterprise level organizations where the carrier will do these configurations and provide support for you as part of your service.
Best of luck to everyone going forward this year in 2017. There's a lot happening and we'll be here to assist with any hurdles you may have.
